History

The George T. Stagg brand was founded in 2002, as part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. The brand is named after George T. Stagg, a legendary bourbon whiskey producer who worked at the distillery in the late 19th century. Stagg Jr. was introduced in 2013, as a more affordable and accessible alternative to the highly sought-after George T. Stagg bourbon whiskey.

Production

Stagg Jr. is made from a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley, and is distilled in small batches using traditional copper stills. The bourbon is aged for around 8-9 years in new, charred American oak barrels, before being carefully selected and bottled at 126.4 proof.
